Our Purpose

To disseminate information, encourage and promote investigation into the historical and technical background of the artifacts and the artisans who developed the early American clock making technology, and to encourage the accurate restoration of these artifacts.

About Us

The Cog Counters organization is Chapter #194 of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors. The Cog Counters started in 1974 with the first issue of The Cog Counter's Journal, published by Ward Francillon (in photo at left with hat). Ward continued to publish the Journal for many years and served as a clearinghouse for an extraordinary amount of information. Today, the organization's members continue his traditions and exchange information at meetings, in the Journal, and informally throughout the year.
